Impulse Dynamics
InCor ("Instituto do Coração" of the Hospitales das Clínicas of the University of São Paulo - HCFMUSP) is initiating the world's first randomized clinical trial of cardiac contractility modulation (CCM) in patients with Chagas disease.
Tropical Chagas disease causes a particular form of chronic heart failure (CHF) in many cases. 60 CHF patients are treated with a CCM® device from Impulse Dynamics' Optimizer® Smart system or a cardiac resynchronizer (CRT).
The CCM device implantation procedure has just been included in the Brazilian Electronic Cardiac Device Guideline 2023, but it is not yet available in the SUS Health Network or in the ANS (Agência Nacional de Saúde Adicional).
